The Love of a Warrior

in soundless air I shall ne'er despair
as I write the white shine light of you
for in thine dream, you've come, serene
and we revel in the bright of you

O this day, some sing of the foray
and winsome is the thought of you
for battle has begun, the bells have rung
as I write the white shine light of you

I am lost, oh so gone, what the cost
in field of green now grim with red
and thy belief, a tempest been tossed
as you and yours lay in the flowers, dead

all that is left are the loved ones, bereft
for they cared, the white shine light of you
but the sheaves will leave that which is kept
we shall revel in the memory bright of you

so come again, when religion needs men
to battle a warrior's deed
and if the pages bring forth those who'll wage in
a battle for religious need

then may they bear the white shine light of you
as we have reveled in the memory bright of you

Marvelous traditional style Karilea! Smacks of a Camelot type story....
"I am lost, oh so gone, what the cost
in field of green now grim with red
and thy belief, a tempest been tossed
as you and yours lay in the flowers, dead"
I like this kind of poetry it brings back such memories of times when I read a lot of those kinds of tales.......love it!

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.
