~*~ The Other Side Of The Pain ~*~ Take my hand ~*~ come rest with me Upon the shores of “here and now”… We’ll gaze into the universe Overlooking life’s oceans Delicately decorating the tides of pain In reflections of the Stars and the moon That adorn the Heavens in decorations of tranquility ~ *~ Reminding us that all that seems so far away And out of reach….. Is reflected so clearly upon the face of The ocean that embraces the very shores We are resting upon. ~*~ Mystically and Mysteriously ~*~ Soothing our souls And strengthening our spirits with Sweet music of promises spoken In whispers of all that awaits us ~*~ On the other side of the pain ~*~ The velvet hands of the oceans tides Caress and nourish the aches and the emptiness… Erasing the nightmares set free Within the unmerciful playgrounds Of yesterday’s circumstances Rewriting the course of hopes and dreams And beckoning us to believe they Have vanished in the final breaths Of the child who never lived… Tender years of innocence ~*~ stolen ~*~ By the hands of tragedy… ~*~ In this moment of reflection ~*~ A star soars across the Heaven’s As a sign of hope… Perseverance and faith Are the Keys…. That unlock the doors of pain and regret, Within the prison of abuse and shattered dreams… Allowing us to enter……. ~*~ The other side of the pain ~*~ Take my hand ~*~ come rest with me Upon the shores of “the other side”…. We’ll gaze into the universe Overlooking life’s oceans Delicately decorating the tides of survival In reflections of the Stars and the moon That adorn the Heavens in decorations of tranquility ~ *~ Reminding us that all that seems so far away And out of reach….. Is reflected so clearly upon the face of The ocean that embraces the very shores We are resting upon. ~*~ Mystically and Mysteriously ~*~ Soothing our souls And strengthening our spirits with Sweet music of promises spoken In whispers of all that we hold now In the palms of our hands ……. As we breath in the serenity of the freedom From the bondage of The painful playgrounds Of yesterday’s circumstances ~*~ And the child in us is born again ~*~ To live...and dream... ~*~ On the other side of the pain ~*~ (for my very special and eternal friend ~*~ 'R.M.' ~ there is no mountain that faith cannot move; there is no sky too vast to conquer with the wing span of determination into flights upon the winds of dreams that whisper…”you’re almost there…never give up…yesterday is the ladder that leads us into the dawn of dreams that have been awaiting our arrival into today…”) |

Oh Martha, I hope he knows what a wonderful friend he has in you. At first I thought you had written this for me until I figured out who it was for, and realized that there are a few of us been in his shoes, and you have been on the "other side" there to guide us back to firm ground. I know he will love this, and cherish in his heart always the love, heart, and hand that you extend to any troubled soul and the open arms that receive them without prejudice or judgement...what would this world be without Martha? I sure don't even want to think about that. This was simply beautiful Martha, and R.M. (you are loved, remember that). [This message has been edited by Mysteria (edited 03-16-2001).] |

Beautiful! To give hope that one can reach the other side of pain...I think at the brink of the ocean, its vastness, its power and then knowing Who created it in its awesome wonder had 'me' in His hands, that would surely bring one, step by step, to the other side of pain. |

I am sure there is more here than I can know as a new visitor to your poetry, but it is very beautiful. We all want to get to the other side of the pain. Joyce |

I'm with Joyce here...I don't know the story but I know beauty when it's been written! I commend you on this piece it's absolutely wonderful...a lot of your heart and soul went into this work and I sure can feel that.....Love how you repeated part of it...repetition for emphasis...nice touch! This really struck me...... "Take my hand ~*~ come rest with me Upon the shores of “the other side”…. ~*~ Mystically and Mysteriously ~*~ Soothing our souls And strengthening our spirits with Sweet music of promises spoken In whispers of all that we hold now In the palms of our hands ……." There's a tremendous amount of mental relief written here....very very well written piece ...you have a tremendous heart dear poet lady! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

This site is truly "home" to many wonderful and caring artists. Thank you so much for your gracious and kind words. This poem was written for a very dear friend of mine, and fellow poet, going through some tough storms facing ghosts from his past at the present time. But it is also reflective of my views in general for anyone trying to find a place to put pain from the pain aside and healed so that this journey of life may continue without the whispers and reminders of it always haunting us. Thank you for your kind and gracious support, and I do apologize that I have not yet been able to read more of your wonderful poetry here ~ I promise I will be doing that. It was my daughters birthday this week, and thus my time online has been even more limited than usual. I just wanted to say "thank you" for your lovely comments, and for taking time to read my work. This is truly a special site filled with many talented and wonderful people. I am happy to be a part of it all. Happy Friday, and thanks for everything. Martha |
