My Haven

When trees are abundant with summertime green
The woods are so lovely, so cool and serene
It’s here that I come when I’m heavy of heart
To breath in the freshness that nature imparts

Along verdant bank of a babbling stream
Was born my most splendid, impossible dream
In my sorrow the breezes embrace me with care
As I sit all alone, without loneliness there

The woods give me comfort with never a word
Just the rustling of leaves and the warbling of bird
My burdens seem lessened, my pain left behind
For the woods bring sweet peace to the heart and the mind

A path through the greenery beckons a stroll
A walk through the woods is like bathing the soul

Thank you, Elizabeth, for this one. I feel a certain hope this spring mixed in with sadness.

Oh yeah I know all about it...A walk through the woods is like bathing the soul.... this is a wonderful poem of self comfort which we all have to administer to ourselves once in a while.........just outstanding feeling in this.... Yet another one from your pen!

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.

What would we do without nature to turn to at times? It certainly is therapeutic and your poem is beautiful.

That was just so serene and beautiful, and the last line, "a walk through the woods is like bathing the soul" spoke volumes. Absolutely beautiful.

Bathing the soul... what a beautiful image. *S* And what a wonderful poem you've given us... I love it when I can read a poem and completely forget I'm sitting in a tiny cubicle. *S* Thanks for the walk!

"A walk through the woods is like bathing the soul." Oh my the peace and smiles this line brought to me this evening and I needed to hear these words so tonight. I thank you so for this outstanding poem. Kate
