Spring arrived. Attacked the snow
Until bare ground began to show.
Then threw warm rays of golden sun
To finish off what she'd begun.
The crocuses began to rise
And birds that we could recognize
As harbingers of vernal birth
That rejuvenates the earth,
Began to fill the air with song
And hunt for nest sites all day long.
Then, as sap rises in a tree,
I felt a stirring deep in me,
To spend my time outdoors and roam
In circles farther from my home.
The need to savor every hour,
Learn the name of each new flower,
Listen, smell and touch the green
That suddenly is widely seen.
Too soon this season will be done,
But in the interim, I run
Like wild deer playing in the wood
And don't do anything I should!

Wonderful writing here!! I have to admit that I thought this was about basketball!! Sorry, that's always the first thing I think about when I see "March Madness". ROFL.

Well I hope now that you've read the poem, you're glad it isn't about basketball. I didn't even know there was a connection between my title and the game! Tells you what a basketball fan I am!

Hi Krawdad: Thanks for commenting. I hope the snow stops falling where you are and signs of spring appear soon!

WhiteDove: Thanks for your comments. Hope you are enjoying the same springlike weather we are in Northern Idaho!
