Flames of LOve Blow out the candle of desire Snuff out the rapture of the fire One simple flame on candle’s wick Leaves just an empty candlestick The waxy beads upon the lace Are teardrops on a pillowcase From fire that danced as love unfurled And lit the skies around the world How fast the taper was consumed How swiftly life from womb to womb Gives birth to love, gives love a name And burns it up in candle’s flame A slowly kindled fire will stay Through winter’s night and summer’s day And burn until the flames withdraw And embers warm the aging soul But lust is just a candle’s flame Without true love, it’s not the same The fires that dance in breezes lick Burn fast on passions candlestick When candle glows upon my face Reveal love’s blushing radiant trace ‘Tis not from candle’s flame it parts But burning embers in my heart Elizabeth Santos |

Awwwww Elizabeth loved the ending, speaks of love and well written Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning. |

Elizabeth this is wonderful! The truth about the flames of love...love's tricky stuff but it never works without the heart involved....lust is pleasure for the moment with an empty space left thereafter....until; the next exposure to lust...not too hard to figure out which is the most beneficial to the human soul....great writing! I love the warmth of the reasoning ........ ethome The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

Flashfire v. Hearthfire... how many hearts go up in flames because they couldn't tell the difference? *S* This is beautiful, Elizabeth! |
