The Shores of Alone

An old Victorian Chair
frayed around the edges
yet elegantly appointed
with carvings of rich
romantic detail,
sits abandoned in the corner.

Her plush red seat is worn thin,
though still soft and inviting.
Her scrolled arms open wide to anyone
who would appreciate her
and use her kindly.

Her antique beauty ignored in modern worlds,
she sits and surveys all who pass by
and glance at her with contempt
as though she were useless.

Rejected by those who used to love
her special traits, she waits
arms still open and accepting
but legs a little weaker.

One day, she knows she will be seen.
Adored again for her special rarity
and endurance.
But when he comes to sit within
her warm embraces, once again,

Will it be too late? Will she crumble?
The old Victorian chair sits alone..

An extremely vivid study in personification. Well done!

Excellent imagery Sandra! There is much wisdom woven within these lines, and beautifully portrayed, really well done!

Best wishes,

Very nice. She will be more beautiful, the second time around.

Stunning. I compliment you. This is depth.

After years of searching, I have found I am nothing more, nothing less...I am in truth Just A Woman after all.

Sandra,
The Victorian imagery in this, entwined with the emotion is pure beauty. I will have a seat in a vintage chair next to you, and we can wait together.
