A few days ago my best friend and long time drummer, brought me a copy of a tape from long ago. Truly recorded in a garage, it contained a song I had written, which has remained unthought of, and equally unplayed for nearly twenty years. I auditoned a new musician tonight. And played for him that song recorded in a garage. He seemed to like it. I hope you do too. It will be on our next recording. So from me, and twenty years, in hiding: Lights As the lights of the city fade on into the dawn while the shadows of the evening paint lies across my walls that's when I feel it worst of all say goodbye to the soldiers of the night Pawns of their seasons are halted for too many tries while the sanctity of our being is lost somewhere inside Where are their hearts Where are their minds Set them free Do you see quite clearly what he endures Dying hope unfurls his glory You are his world See the end of falsehood running through the iron gates a three headed dog waits for those who can't escape Now the lights of the morning burn down the blazing night while the pieces on the chess board reach hands for paying right That's when I feel it worst of all when nothing's left inside I scream where are their hearts where are their minds wave goodbye once more we the soldiers of the night "Beginning is one place, I've been before." say goodbye to the soldiers of the night-- This made me smile! Reminded me of the bad ole good ole days, running like vampires trying to beat the sun home... One to end that set with! Would love to hear this sometime. |

AT, not used to reading as songs, but I can see teh music in this one. To me it kicks into gear at the stanza with the 3-headed dog. Fine job and good luck with the recording. Thanks. Gary |
