Between ruin and redemption lies a chasm, miles wide,
That every soul must cross to reach their true home,
And the perilous bridge to the other side,
Will not allow for a tested temper's roam.
So if the soul's candle burns twice as bright,
And if the flames of passion are not controlled,
Then that spirit will face its darkest night,
As like the fool who sells his soul for gold.

So when you meet with hindrance and toil,
And the endless days start to seem too long,
The nerves torn and frayed, the blood starting to boil,
Nothing seeming right, but so much going wrong,
This is the moment that you must sense,
To sustain control and hold your tongue,
For reason is the reasonable person's defence,
Anger, the hook on which so many are hung.

There are also times when the cause of frustration,
Comes from another's act of base iniquity,
Then, revenge may become a great temptation,
But it can only bring a pyrrhic victory.
When fury burns like lava in the veins,
And you submit to its periclastic flow,
Then you may find yourself in chains,
From the bitter harvest that you sow.

The seeds of chaos are so often born,
From a solitary act of enforced wrath,
When the shadow falls on patience worn,
There is no escape from the aftermath.
In temperance lies the key to our corporeal cell,
And the struggle to not become violent,
Is what decides our fate, whether heaven or hell,
So let reason rule and rage be silent.

Yes, rage does no good to anyone. I'm sure it's something that everyone has to struggle with, at least occassionally. We benefit ourselves most when we can keep it in check.

TonyA~
I like your reasoning !

'So if the soul's candle burns twice as bright,
And if the flames of passion are not controlled,
Then that spirit will face its darkest night,
As like the fool who sells his soul for gold.'

And there are those who should take heed to the messages~

'When fury burns like lava in the veins,
And you submit to its periclastic flow,
Then you may find yourself in chains,
From the bitter harvest that you sow.'

Nothing tastes as bitter as revenge upon the tongue~

Well written thoughts for all to ponder.

This is so thought provoking...rage in and of itself is not a good thing...but there are times that to rage is necessary...I just went thru a period of time when I just raged against the world...oh not at a particular person...just the world at large...fate chance whatever you want to call it...it soothed my soul to shake my fist and scream...
