While sifting through
your simple thoughts
(wishing to renew
the dreams we bought—
the love we knew
could not be caught,
though the winds that blew,
we fought and fought)

I stumbled upon—
amongst damp grass,
though from your lawn,
it did not pass—
a figurine swan
of lower class—
a simple pawn
of little mass.

It looked so serene
in the palm of my hand,
that glass figurine
speckled with sand,
and smudged lime green
from the lay of the land.
So I wiped it clean
With my one free hand

and from the sky,
in a cloud of dust,
appeared a field of rye,
flowers covered with rust.
And with my squinting eyes,
I discerned a figurine bust,
a piece of glass amidst the rye;
a figure I could always trust.

A swan of gold,
upon a necklace of lace,
was in the mold
beneath your face.
I reached out and took hold
and read, “For Grace,”
inscribed in bold
in a special place.

As I held tight,
I could not hide the grin,
that finally brought light
and peace within.
The rye vanished from sight.
Life flooded back in.
I slept through the night,
wanting new dreams to begin.

Dance with me under the moon. Touch my pale skin. Devour me. Love me.

A wonderfully mastered piece, but the visuals your story held be spellbound, oh, but I should see the figurine on which I could depend! Wonderful read that flowed like a rive rushing downstream.
