When we arrived at this place We had come home A thousands years in Martian time But an eye blink for us Our journey of desperate slumber On the horizon of a black hole Paradise no more Majestic stone mountains Obliterated to dust and sand Filled the green valleys and rivers dry And the once lavender sky Lies raped, bloody and red Torn and gaping at the cruel sun We returned with hope That life was out there In globes circling a billion suns People like you and I Living, dying, loving, and hoping For a better world, a better place We arrived too late There’s no one here to receive our message No one to rejoice in our hope The desert is deaf to our cries And our tears cannot resurrect it So let us turn to a new place That blue marble spinning above Streaked with creams, greens and browns And plant the seeds of hope Where our children may stand in a desert someday Before a great pyramid, or shrine Understand the dream that was ours Spread their wings And reach for the stars [This message has been edited by Jellybean King (edited 03-09-2001).] |

This is one of the most refreshing, original and effective pieces I've read in a long time. Welcome to Passions. Kathleen Blake "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey." Laurie Lee |

I love this one. A lot of truth lies in your words. The beginning was awesome!! Welcome to Passions. Lone Wolf Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

So let us turn to a new place That blue marble spinning above Streaked with creams, greens and browns And plant the seeds of hope Where our children may stand in a desert someday Before a great pyramid, or shrine Understand the dream that was ours Spread their wings And reach for the stars ================== striking imagery and a powerful message of things to come if we dont change the way we treat the planet. very unique and creative writing Welcome to Passions JBK ... so nice to have you here ... I look forward to more or your work. take care jm Some find subtlety in strangers some find subtlety alone Your eyes, you see everything my eyes,I see its all together now and I know. ~candlebox~ |

I like. Now a thousand years in martian time should not be too far off a millenium Terran-wise, yet that depends on the keeping of a something solar with revolutions, and they can be such bloody heinous things. Ooops off the track again he rambles, now where in time where we, you, I, personas. Ahh well fun read. Most enjoyable indeed. Compliments AT "Learning to listen, learning to see. Learning is Power, making me free. Free to believe again, in my Human side...Be a Good Day." Jon Anderson |

Enjoyed the read greatly. Ahhh, hope spawned out of necessity. Like the sci-fi feel of this, too. |

Welcome to Passions, JBK....I think you've found yourself in a completely happy place.... Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

...wow, I didn't expect this number and quality of responses. I am very impressed, humbled and appreciative. I wish that I could thank each and every one of you personally...there's just so many of you. Over time I will be sure to read your works and comment on them so that we may get to know each other better. Thanks again for the generous comments and welcoming party!!! Jellybean King |
