Even in my sadness I still know
that I have been so blessed
I've known incredible deep love
and joy
that overflowed my heart
as I could only stand with tears streaming
in the wonder of what life can be

I've danced and laughed and chased fireflies
with my children
Tugged smiles out of fierce little boys
Wiped tears and captured hugs
Taught and also learned
with each of them

I've had friends that
enriched me
Loved me no matter my faults
Forgave my quirks
and listened patiently to my storms
when I was overwhelmed

And I've known love
Completely
Shared laughter and thoughts
dreams and tears
Bared the deepest parts of myself
in quiet whispers and
candlelight

So I can smile even through tears
and I can watch the heavy gray clouds
the bitter winds of change
that seem unending
and know that I'm still me
But more importantly
that I've known richness, beauty and depth
Intangible treasures
And I am blessed

Thanks;  I'm in my 50's and only recently have taken the time to " look in the mirror " I'm struggling with the disasters, most self imposed, of my life. I try daily now to appreciate the blessings in my life. It's not always easy, but at times a message is sent that make the self evaluation easier. Your poem is just such a message.
