Poor Thing By: Noah Eaton 3/5/01 They feel my troubles from the past They see how lonely I am They say I deserve so much more Saying they don’t understand how around me I am frequently ignored All my friends come to me and say “You poor thing!” I don’t feel alone, but that makes me feel ashamed I feel as though I am missing so much And I always struggle to keep in touch I don’t want to live and write to make people feel how sad I am I don’t want to cry for me in sorrow, and make me and others feel bad I want to live and write to show people who I am and make them proud and happy I want to be known as a happy person, not a poor thing I am a candidate for the joys of life, I don’t want to be an also ran I am the fish in the sea, not the fish in the tuna can I am born to hang with the rainbow, not to hang in the gallows I forte to live in the light, far away from the shadows When they feel this way for me, I feel lonely Being is what I must be I know what I want to be, finding out took so long Please don’t make me feel like it’s wrong I don’t want to live and write to make people feel how sad I am I don’t want to cry for me in sorrow, and make me and others feel bad I want to live and write to show people who I am and make them proud and happy I want to be known as a happy person, not a poor thing I know you love me But do you have faith in me? All I want to be is happy That’s what I want to be… |
