I've cursed the heavy load I bear a wild ride gone bad. Inside somewhere I judged unfair the feelings I unclad. My five dear brothers cast like one no less at shunning me self righteously have wished me done expressions made in heat. Inclement tales of me they tell ungodly prophecies they preach From their surplus thinking swells uncaring prodigies they speak. Beyond existence nature's ride ends suddenly in sleep, with the naked stoic kind lost in a world so brief Through the vine I hear toll bells dear Lord I feel this grief. From my chambered drunken hell I feel their blood call me. The grace of grief and father time calls distant from the seeds. The oldest says that Robert dies and he's requesting me. My heart cries out sick afraid "Robert please don't die! I'll be home within the day before the daylight flies. The distant way was like a dream like the wind I did drive. Along the route the evergreens seemed waving on my flight. My heart and soul deeply stirred my eyes filled up with gems. All the distance we'd incurred I prayed he would forgive. In the setting sun I felt a stir a calm and cooling breeze On the porch by the banister sat Robert ill at ease. His eyes so full of helpless pain he forced a smile to face. Outstretched arms he held my way we smothered in embrace. "Oh Daniel how you ease this pain take hold your brother's love and to God I pray your gain for the waste we've overcome." In my arms he was released my tears poured like spring rain and as I crushed him to my breast his soul ran through my veins. Filled with selfish hate we missed self serving at great cost the preciousness of our gifts all buried with his loss. These days, Robert passed along I keep gazing at the stars We're seen as brothers six less one but I know five plus one we are. ............................................. ............................................ Made me remember how when I was a kid I always wanted a brother. This was really touching. Made me wish all over again. |

Thank you so much Lady in White...This was one of my first post a little less than a year ago. Thank you JLR for taking the time to read this.... I wrote this about another family that I was very close to for a long time...as a result I shared in their loss. I enjoyed this E, coming from a family of 5 children, it makes one think...and do you know what, as time goes on and we age, our memories don't but we all mellow... and what once may have been a wall between siblings, comes down so easily... ~Wynter "The worst prison would be a closed heart". ...Pope John Paul II |

Thanks so much Paula and you go ahead and show it to whomever you wish to show it to........take care ethome Thanks Mushy you're always so sweet with your kind words...and it's true those sisters will always be there for you when it comes right down to the crunch...at least in 99% of all cases. Thanks Wynter! That's a big family. You're so right, as we age we tend to mellow and those walls do come tumbling down and the reunion is often very very special! I'm glad I had a chance to read this, it was quite sincere and touching. Kathleen Blake "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey." Laurie Lee |

ethome - I have no words to express my feelings about this writing. I lost my brother, and know how you must feel. Thanks for sharing this. BC |
