Contradictions You say that I don’t give you enough Then you say that I give far too much You tell me life's hard that I should be tough Then you say life needs a gentle touch I never know how the night will end Will we be fighting at daggers drawn? Or will you be my loving giving friend? This relationship should be foresworn You say that you really care about me Then you say that I shouldn’t care at all You tell me that this isn’t meant to be Then you say into your arms I must fall I never comprehend how you will act Will we be watching a sunrise at peace? Or will you be showing me hurt’s fact? This relationship should entirely cease You say that I’m your moon and sun Then you say I want you all the time You tell me that lately I am no fun Then you say I’m frivolous and too fine I never understand where you’re are Will we be sharing a very loving kiss? Or will you be saying I go far too far This relationship shouldn’t be like this You say that you want to hold me near Then you say I keep pushing you away You tell me that to you I’m so very dear Then you say that I make you with me stay I never perceive what it is you desire Will we be spitting and fighting again Or will you be wrapping me in your fire This relationship shouldn’t bring pain Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning [This message has been edited by Marsha (edited 03-05-2001).] |

your poem shows exactly how love is between anyone. one minute we are there everything the next were nothing. Although you said it better. Great poem Marsha Kerri |

Oh my, Marsha, this one sounds like a very difficult person, love like this is so painful, and yet so hard to give up, becuase of those good moments. Loved this. Sandra |

It's just damn hard to please some people. I say you are a sweet poet and I'd find someone else to say nothing but nice things about me if I was you...but then I'm kind of partial to ya considering the fact that you did finally find me a couple of doctors... a ....you haven't sent them yet is there a problem? I'll pay the freight! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

marsha-- you penned my heart with this one! excellent powerful write about the struggle and fustration of what can be a very much one-sided relationship. i agree w/ the others...live and love for yourself, and don't try to fit the other person's idea of what you should be. i as u know speak with a little experience on this. you will only hurt that much more in the end. take care love ya amy "A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart & can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words."
