The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2001-03-04 05:44 PM

Lover of the night am I,
yet night has little joyous mean
when arms reach out
to hold a vacant dream
and lips which long to kiss
remain firmly ensconced in lines
of aloneness and despair
created from his hurtful lies.

Lover of the night am I,
though tears escape my frozen lids
while aching heart so nearly broken
barely beats alive within
and impossible realities
abort all thoughts
of peaceful rest
and love that still is not

Yet still the night is comforting,
a velvet cloak to hide behind
to soften bitter edge of day
as sunset dusk will shadows rise
to open doors of promised love
of which the mind will not let go
though signs of future hope
do all say no.

Lover of the night am I
holding dreams that never die.

Night is itself
the greatest covering
to spread about ones
shoulders the peace of nothing

No light to taunt and
more than mispresent
no mirrors calling for imagined
hues on cheeks need no light

to blush nor burn
they simply
feel
the right bring on the night

Those dreams are precious but you need someone to cultivate them with a love as deep as yours....wonderful poetry!!
