In the space between moments

Eyes-- puddles reflecting the rushing
White water rapids of our souls
And mirroring the shadowed corners
Of our thoughts...
Orbs of gentle, shifting color
Exposing dreams, holding saffron
Shades of light ,
And offering a flowering of compassion
From their depths.

And then those eyes are wounded--
A trickling of emotion trails
Downward
As the harsh words are hurled
So carelessly,
Battering upon each other
Without regard to the swirling of emotion
Sheltered within.

Those eyes now echo loneliness
And a raw, guttural pain
For the deluge of bitterness in our hearts
Cannot begin to cease
Until we learn to bestow kindness
Upon one another
No matter what crushing words
They may throw upon us.

*Krista Knutson*

I'm a slow dying flower
In a frost-killing hour
The sweet turning sour and untouchable...

You said it all in just those few words. You have a great talent that is for sure.

Wonderfully well written poem, my dear! The callousness of people is astounding. Real strength lies in love and compassion though, and it will triumph. Great as always, and it's certainly good to see you past your block!

Who was it that wrote... The eyes are the window to the soul? You write wonderfully. Excellent imagery with color, and mans inhumanity to man. My compliments.
