Beginnings Virginia Salter Such a lovely day for beginnings; why does it feel like the end? Sun is rising into sea of blue as pink and azure blend. My hopes should be encouraged by the glorious view about. Why do I feel at a loss for action; why do I sense I’m out. These feelings of wavering and trembling, this weakness I feel in my knees To go ahead into daylight hours seem more like flailing seas. Why should one feel so unsettled when there’s really nothing amiss As far as I can tell from looking so why do I feel like this? Do I think it’s the calm before the storm might hit? Do I wonder if there’s trouble brewing and what I’ll make of it? If only I could drink right in the lovely glow of morn And thank the Great Creator for the day that I was born. Pink and blue in amber glow lights up the dawning world Across the land the flags on high will gaily be unfurled. Oh help me, Friend, join with me sir and madam greet the day Let’s kick up our heels in frolics squeals and march this day away! © February 27, 2001 |
