Last night I took a journey, ...down paths of long ago, On small town streets and country lanes, ...in haze of memory's glow, Where hedge rows were a forest dense, ...Sand Creek, the mighty Nile, What creature lurked within its depths? ...lo', vicious crocodile. Up on the hill, the Smith's red barn, ...wood castle on yon moor, Knights and dragons roam the fields, ...beyond barn's aging door. Golden seas of ripened wheat, ...pirates sail the main, Thunder sounds the calvary's charge, ...amid a summer rain, So long ago, when I was young, ...upon the Kansas plains, So long ago, when I was young, ...upon the Kansas plains. Naturally I am not surprised at how easily your reader is transported upon your words to another time and place. Always wonderful to read your work, you know. Thanks for this today.
