(We'll get one with Denise included ASAP)

Four Poet Friends

They came together in this place
Four poet friends from cyberspace
And now in person they embrace
Gathering at a statue's base

Their ancestors had come before
And passed through Ellis Island?s door
I greeted them with torch aflame
And here they sealed a given name

Descendents of those immigrants
Look up at me in reverence
Imagining the joy that reigned
When first they spotted freedom?s flame

The fourth friend came to visit me
From far across Pacific?s sea
And yet for her my torch still gleams
A welcoming for future dreams

Nan, Kamla, Liz, Denise
Meeting in a place of peace
Where generations came before
And landed on this island shore

Four poet friends from cyber space
Whose kin came from another place
Are joined by love of poetry
And me, Statue of Liberty

Elizabeth Santos

Wonderful tribute to these fine poets Elizabeth! You have painted the cyberspace picture into a poetic scene of deep love and friendship...and thank goodness for all the different nationalities that embrace us with their different cultures...from this we learn and grow. We do it here all the time by reading the words of others....take care ethome

The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges.

It was indeed wonderful - They're even considering letting me go home today... As soon as I arrive, I'll get some photos developed to share with everyone.

This poem is wonderful, Elizabeth. I had never before visited the spot where my ancestors first stepped upon American soil... That in itself was moving for me - To share it with such wonderful people made the experience even more special. It's interesting that it took a special young lady from another country to bring us all there... Thanks Kamla, you're a sweetie... Denise, you're every bit as awesome as I anticipated... and Liz, you're simply an astounding lady. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and for this absolutely beautiful poem..

Yes, I took photos and had them developed today. I tried to upload an awesome picture of the Statue of Liberty but geocites must be having a problem tonight because it isn't letting me upload anything. I'll try again later. We had a fabulous time, wish I could have spent more time with you wonderful people!!! We must do it again, real soon!!! Lovely poem, Elizabeth!!!

Heh...Denise...oh the frustration of technology huh?

Well, I am sitting here sniffing - unable to travel like this - so I get more time in America. With you dear Lizzy...it's wonderful staying with you - you really are my second Mom/Mum...

I'll never forget the statue day lol...(even if I was too sick to really be there hahah)...and as for you two ladies...Nan and Denise - what can I say? I love ya both and have been privileged to meet you...

Hugs Liz - for a lovely poem, and just for being you.

very very nice...Denise I just wanted to say it's not you. Geocities wouldn't let my pictures load on passions either...I tried at least 15 times the other day..I heard they are upset with sites using their bandwidth..just something told to me from another site that has lost every picture on it that was stored on a geocities page..

Looks like you all had a wonderful time...though *s

The green lady got just a dash of peach! As for your photo, I think it is lovely, of all of you, but of course the camera can't do any of you justice. You are all 100 times more lovely in person!!

Wynter, I was afraid of that. I guess they are prohibiting the use of graphics stored with them just as angelfire does...too bad. I was just starting to have fun being that I have only recently been able to use graphics. I guess we will just have to wait until Ron gets us some storage space here at Passions that we can use.

Excellent poem Liz! Sounds and looks like y'all had fun! Wishing I could have been there

Denise, I'm having the same problem. I don't remember reading about them doing such a thing. I had some posted in another forum, and well all of a sudden they didn't show up anymore.

Four poet friends,
One is Balladeer,
LongJohn is another,
Toerag's never here.

That's three you say I know,
But LongJohn's math is bad,
Balladeer can't count at all,
And that leaves poor Toerag

Your poem is great as always,
Your thoughts are so damn nice,
I think you really ought to write,
Twenty books might just suffice.

Nan looks like she should be on broadway - that's what I reckon...

Oh and Elizabeth - Jamie is far too....skinny....to be a chipmunk heh heh...

Rebecca - Yes, I think they've done something to prevent posting pictures stored there. I wish I knew of another alternative (other than bugging Nan all the time...hehehe)

You were a real trooper, Kamla, keeping up with us when you were feeling so sick. Glad you're feeling better now. Next time we must do Broadway!!

Liz - check your email!

Rebecca, Dee, Elizabeth, Karilea and everybody else (can't remember all the names and my Show topic only shows page 1 of this thread...hehe) It would be wonderful if we could all get together one of these days, wouldn't it?

Yep, you got it right, Wilfred! I checked it against my Statue of Liberty coffee mug that I bought at the souvenier shop on Liberty Island. Great memory you got there! The only differences were a few commas, periods and 'tempest tossed' is spelled 'tempest-tost' on my mug (same difference!)
