I've given up , can't pay the rent My savings are completely spent And those who sell me nat'ral gas have caused this thing to come to pass I've stretched my bucks like rubber-bands What few weren't in Washington's hands And wound them tightly just to see If they'd produce 'lectricity But stranger than this even looks They stole my pocket change those crooks And left me no alternative 'cause I've got nothing left to give I'd hang a sign upon my door Say's " Doc don't live here anymore " But it and house I burned for heat While trying hard to make ends meet So if you're passing by someday And see " For Sale " in field of hay It should tell you which way I went Like most I'm in " Befuddlement " " Bewilderments " not far away " Bemused " I can't afford to stay Bedraggled and betrayed I stand Right smack out here in no-man's land ! |

This is really cute, Dr. Moose! And so timely, too, I hear the "energy" crisis is not being held responsible for inflation. Well, at least in your state of befuddlement you have no lack of solar energy! Corinne out here on the west coast, countin' the spins. |

Corrine, Thank you for your observations ,but on reflection I've decided " Befuddlement " is much too confining , it reminds me too much of " Absentia " where I spent some time a while ago . Now that I have re-visited " Bewilderment " , I think I will settle in there nicely . Thanks for your comments again, and I hope you drop by if you're in the vicinity . Doc |

Doc, I didn't know you lived in Philadelphia! Small world! They've raised the natural gas rates here by 500% since the end of November.....I'm cold and I still have a huge energy bill and I am really looking forward to Spring, big time! Bewilderment sums it up very well! Great poem! p.s. I love your Critique message too! Very funny! |

You make me glad I live in the south... but I'll be sweltering this summer! LOL. Great read, Doc! |

I love this and I too have had some days that last for years! Mom USED to say," it can't get any worse". You know what, it usually did. Lets all pray for warm weather for the whole rest of the year! Not hot, just warm. Hugs, ME |
