We give them birth
We watch them grow
When finally
We let them go

Each age a wonder
Truth be told
At times we ponder
Will we live
To see them old

Parenting we find
Gives OJT
Spock's only a guide
There are no rules
We only hope to find time
To make good use of tools

So at times we look down
At these tots stretching out
It's the 'terrible twos'
Or some words with clout

Now I look back at pictures
At two, three and four
Sad that my mind's eye
Is needed for more

Remembering times
Five, six, seven, eight
Times when I loved
Times there was hate

My heart swells with memories
None so good as those years
When she was eight
And my eyes fill with tears

They're grown = or their gone
And I'm not the same
All's left are memories
It's the name of the game

So if you're in twos
No matter you're not
Store these memories as happy
With that string tie a knot

It's a gift from above
We can carry through life
No matter that times
Sometimes carried some strife

I treasure them all
Even now as I know
They're making their own dreams
With new seeds they sow

The first duty of love is to listen.

I loved them so when they were young.
Then one day turned around and they were
all grown. Still love them but not the same.

Bill--Our children our always part of our heart in memory and in reality...love changes but is constant...and to let go is to grow, and so it goes. Enjoyed your poem, my friend!

SEA-
I get this way now and then - (kinda nice to know I've a real fem. side) ~G~ Thanks

inot2B-
yep - growth makes changes - love cannot and should not stay the same but must needs evolve - Thanks

Martie-
As flowers sprout, bud and bloom - so does love develop and grow - it's all part of life - what makes us human -
Thank you ~S~

Paula -
we do remember... it is what gives us the courage to go on some days
Thank you
