Paper Knight I wonder ... where has all the poetry gone Why are there no roses greeting the dawn What happened to sunsets shedding light Have they fallen to ways of the Paper Knight Are there no boundaries standing in place Is it worth this meaningless slap in the face Shall we never again have the beauty of souls Finding refuge within a home that consoles Why must the walls cry tears of such sorrow Where is the hope of love in your tomorrow How did the insecurities become your fight When you have held love within your sight So I ask you ... where has the poetry gone Where Luna shines love to greet the dawn And rainbows swirl among a lover's dance Singing the songs of memories at a glance Mark Bohannan If you find yourself stranded in a storm ...then reach for my hand and we will play in the puddles together |

Ah Sir....they are all held captive in your pen.... so write, then write, then write, once again.... for mine eyes would see such beauteous sight... and take this day then on in to the night.... |

Karilea-Thank you much. I sort of posted this to help a friend realize that there is inspiration to be found if one looks in their heart deep enough and not worry about the happenings that tend to distract. Glad you enjoyed. WhiteKnight-Thank you. I will take a wow anyday. Greeneyes-That's a good thing because I have never been good at boundaries.LOL Thanks so much my poet friend for your always kind words. Mark, How I love it when your stream of consciousness flows forth onto the page. I love your write, poetry flows from your pen,...but I'm not willing to risk LJA's wrath and write of love so it will have to be you writing for me. write on Kethry Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life. Mark~ YOU are poetry, from your head to your toes. You are the love that flows in your poetry pen. I am sure this poem will inspire many to search the heart for the true poet within. I am still digging to find my poet self... just love to write. Thank you for writing this poem, I feel inspired to dig a little deeper. Deb |

I wonder ... where has all the poetry gone Why are there no roses greeting the dawn What happened to sunsets shedding light Have they fallen to ways of the Paper Knight ======================= Shall we never again have the beauty of souls Finding refuge within a home that consoles ========================= How did the insecurities become your fight When you have held love within your sight So I ask you ... where has the poetry gone Where Luna shines love to greet the dawn And rainbows swirl among a lover's dance Singing the songs of memories at a glance ======================= we poets are moody creatures arent we ... yes .. there can never be enough love inspired poems can there? poetry should be for healing and for expressing our emotions ... to lift us up and take us to new heights and to inspire one another. beautiful write of poetic wisdom MC.... love the imagery in your first & last verse ... and your cadence was perfect ... melodic I was reading an old poetry book lastnight and came across this fav of mine... your poem here reminded me of it.... I bet you'll know it ... "If the war goes on forever- will we look out on the dawn... and see the eagle playing... with the dove upon the lawn. Will we hear the trumpets, mingled with the harps... If the war goes on forever and the shouting doesn't stop". ~Rod McKuen~ same message me thinks ... Y.T.C.F.S.C.L.Y.B. Singing the songs of memories at a glance Mark, this is a very nice piece with wonderful flow. The last line, the one I pasted above I do think would leave a better feel at the end if it were: Singing the songs of memory's glance What do you think? I don't think it's particularly the syllable count that's bugging me, I didn't even check that. It just feels better to my ear without 'at a'. |

There is a peace that comes to few Within the embrace of darkened hues Wrapped in its cloak of quietness Rests dreams and wishes in secret dance Forgotten not what love was had But visions of what one can have The Paper Knight does come to some A time of relax and pondering This temporary phase of life Has purpose to brokenheartedness To heal and once again be strong To believe in dreams and soar beyond... Mark, you see what some of your poetry can do... My goodness sweetie if I took a moment to write down the thoughts that come to mind when I read some of your poems there would not be enough pages to bind in my book... I thank you PoetFriend for this excellent write you have shared and as always the inspiration you bring upon many of us here.. ~coco~ You get a lot more lesson mileage when you lose in some situations than always win... |

Why must the walls cry tears of such sorrow Where is the hope of love in your tomorrow How did the insecurities become your fight When you have held love within your sight Sometimes it's hard to... or hurts to... battle the sorrow and insecurities when love is just a memory and Hope is hiding her shy little head. *S* (I think many people are grateful I tire of my own wailing pretty quickly. LOL) Another lovely poem, Mark... And a caring friend lending a helping hand is priceless. *S* Granted, sometimes that hand gives a lift up... and sometimes it gives a swat on the sitter! LOL |

Mark--Your poetry has always touched me, but it seems each poem is like the petal of a rose, growing and spreading this full bloomed beauty that comes from your heart. I love it, in other words. ..... (forgive my adding a piece from my own poetry as an answer) Where is the yellow brick road I ask the fence, but there are only sunflowers answering with head’s bowed and cloistered around them like purple butterflies, sweet pea’s rocking delicate dance. This yearning is too vast, it is splayed across this day like a dry lake and I can’t seem to dig out from this ache with no quenching where I am drowning in all this color and sound of spring, drowning and dry. I hear my question echo in the far-off sound of a train, a sound across the day that understands expressing alone in all this crowd of houses and children in the back yard of a city where the fragrance of blooming colors the air. Where is the yellow brick road I hear the question whistle across the heart of humanness into my answer that wishes for a place where wisdom grows and hearts are made to last forever and courage endures the rage of this sea that is engulfing me. I answer the blue bird who is cocking his head questioning the ground beneath a flowering tree. To find a place where I could throw this spent tear, click my heels and find what is broken whole and new and home in my heart. ........... |

Virginia-Thank you not only for the reply but for taking the time to look at it a different way. I read it with the change you suggested and yes it does feel good that way but then it changes the meaning of the last sentence somewhat and that is where I tied it all together at so I am going to leave it as is for now but please never hesitate to offer up a suggestion again. Sharon-Thanks again and I had a feeling that is what you meant but I don't see my poetry the same way as I do others so it is sometimes hard for me to see it your way but I do appreciate it and you much. Tennessee Angel-Thank you so much. I am glad it was able to touch you. Coco-My friend, not only am I honored to have you visit with such praise but I get a poetic response from you as well. Thank you so much for both and for you above all. Poeminister-Thank you much. I am glad you found the flow and rhyme to you liking. Mother_Earth-Ahhhhhhh....but you already do and don't let anyone tell you different. I know of course that the only one telling you this is you yourself. Thank you dearly. jellybeans-Well now, let's see you go out there and change that day a bit for you. You still have time and I KNOW that you can find a path that will lead you to some very happy moments of inspiration. suthern-LOL----well, somethimes a swat on the sitter is in order.....you know what they say though......."Whatever it takes". Thank you very much for always being so sweet and sending smiles. Marsha-Thank you much. I am glad you enjoyed it. Karilea-Yeppers.......and sometimes you find yourself leaving some as well. Thanks for the second visit and the verse. Nathan-Thank you much. Martie-FORGIVE YOU???????????? Are you NUTS?? Why would you ever feel as if YOU had to apologize for leaving a poetic reply? My friend, you may reply poetically ANYTIME to me you wish. You already know that I save yours for my last one at night before going to bed and you know why ... so please my friend.......speak in verse to me for the rest of my life.LOL Thank you so very much for the awesome reply....ALL OF IT!! Marge-Shhhh!!! Don't want that to get out. Thanks sweet friend. Maria-Well I am glad it struck you in a good way and I hope it was softly. Thank you very much.
