The Joy You Are

The bonds of love cannot be threaded
Through a needle’s eye
Nor can your wisdom fly it’s weight
On wings of butterfly

Imagination can’t be scrolled
In  volumes large and thick
The flames of passion aren’t confined
To candle’s burning wick

I cannot grow the seeds of learning
On a  window sill
And poet’s words can’t be contained
Inside a hollow quill

Dimensions have no measure
In the value of a friend
For infinite goes on and on
And never has an end

How can you count forever
Or delineate abyss
Or quantify the pleasure
In the passion of a kiss

The vastness of the universe
Can’t hold what’s in my heart
Nor can my love be captured
In the words that I impart

I cannot touch infinity
Or bind the essence that is me
I can’t explain what joy you are
By counting heaven’s little stars

Well, Elizabeth, I went through the therarus and the dictionary but I'm with SEA, I don't have the words, this one leaves me speechless!

Lady Liz,
  thou bringest the greatest joy
to all who rest their weary eyes
upon these pages of bluest heaven...
to awaken within each a passion
  that can only be described
  in poetic terms quilled here...
  for all to share.

  Admiring thy words,
    Lady Ollyne

Liz, trying to write a worthy reply is futile. Just know that you have produced another piece of unmesurable beauty. Thank you for sharing it with humble readers such as myself.

Dear liz; If perfection can be reached by a poet, we only need read how magically you weave your words in perfect harmony. Love, Ellie

Thanks for this lovely piece. It is refreshing and beautiful. A simplicity that hides much more thought and sensitivity than might first appear to the casual reader.

All I can say to this one is echo what the others have said and share Balladeers sentiments and say "This is what we have come to expect from you and you definitely have not let us down".  Superb my friend and this is why ALL of yours go into my library.

Well I have to tell you about the joy you are. I always look forward to your writing, your insight, your heart, your soul and your need to express the feelings within. I feel like I've had a poetic fix everytime I read one of your poems...take care dear poet lady!

These lines particularly please me in this poetic perfection... a friend who brings joy is a priceless treasure. *S* You've written another beauty here, Elizabeth!! *S*
