Willow Wind Dance

            ~*~

on the pond
reeds of cat tail dry
brown seed gone to fluff
and gone to wind
there the ice is shimmering
crusts the pond,
traps life below
still come, still winter day

Willow bare
lowering fingers of limb to earth
draping over in exhausted slumber
sleep, Willow, sleep

hibernation of gray
cooled sun's rays
wait, wait, wait for new day
shhh, wait…  wait…  wait…

on the pond
shifts the wind
cracks the ice with deepening chill
and white graces Willow, now
in slumber's rest of grace
at peace, at peace,
long night shivering

now read slow, as that is
how the day shall glow

for time shall pass
the winds shall howl
the wolves shall prowl
and the deer shall travel by
and owl will grace
the long night's sky

all will come about
in His good time, season to season
to give rhythm to rhyme

first sign of warm
comes from rays of morn
Willow feels the blood of life
course and course through her veins
and slowly beckons life to spring
from pond, slowly fingering
lowered limbs
come…
     come…
          come…

pond awakens
and life begins to croak alive
Cardinal sits among Willow's branch
singing song of wake,
trilling song of life
warbling song of love

inviting bluebird to come
and join
colors Willow bright
reds and blues

Willow pushes forth her dress
of slender yellow-green lacy skirt
soft spring winds come to claim
the first dance of Willow's spring

dance, Willow, dance

shift in wind of spring
beckon hearts to sing
while all to wear fresh green
to visit oft pond's scene

and see the Willow Wind Dance

Kari, this is utterly wonderful, it truly is. You know I adore your work and this is so truly you, it captures you totally. I always think of you as a willow, bending but never breaking, serene and beautiful. Beautiful writing from you love, truly a 100% Kari delight. I love this one as you knew I would.
Take care

Shades Of Karilea~

Upon the Willow's branches grace
dances a spirit that wears your face
For upon a visit to the pond
I know the Willow breeze is drawn

To dance so merrily to the notes
bursting forth from birds sweet throat
Spring is sung in joyous song
as Willow dances all day long

*You ARE Willow Dancing~
What a joy to read.
Thank you, sweet - sweet poet.

You write the ways of nature in the flow of the willow branches, in a style so perfect with the setting
Very beautiful

What a beautiful way to describe the changing of the seasons and the hibernation, then awakening of life and nature. This is such a calm and soothing way to describe nature at work....and I love the part with the deer!

'Deer, this particular poem liked me a lot today...I am so very glad you had time to read it and enjoy the brief winter hibernation... and what is especially nice is, this particular place really exists...

Okay call me nuts or something because I see the awakening of love in this beautiful piece of yours.  I see all the wonders of nature and His gift to us all in it but in the use of metaphors I see the promise of a blooming heart opening up to the all encompassing power and beauty of the birth of love after a spell of dormant life.  Either way I loved it dearly and this one is truely one of your best.

Kari, this is one of the reasons I see you as Persephone, you surely don't need another clue, do you? (Well if you insist, 6 mths) There that'll definitely give it away. I can see poets everywhere, checking their dictionaries, well if you find out Kari will give you a prize. Won't you love   This is going straight back to the front. Why? Because it should. Beautiful work love, it truly is
Take care
