In a land far away Amidst the safety of the bay A legend was told For all to behold This tale of the sea Forevermore shall be Passed on in time Using ancient rhyme It tells of a creature With the strangest features Fins and a tail Half covered in scales A mermaid twas said Her hair a fiery red With beauty beyond compare And a voice that was so rare She would sing a song Bidding them to come along Then stealing their breath She'd cause their death The moral to be learned Is don't let your head be turned By her innocent charms You'll only meet with harm ---------------------------------------------------- Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

I so enjoy folk tales re-woven...well done LoneWolf Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Sunshine . . . Thank you so much for stopping by and reading. I actually wrote it after reading a book called "Mermaid's Singing" by Lisa Carey. LoveBug . . . You are most welcome and it was a pleasure to write. Startime . . . Glad you enjoyed it my friend. Thanks for reading. Sven . . . Thanks, I just describe them as I see them in my mind. Passions Voice . . . Thanks for the compliment. That was my intent on this one.
