YOUR EYES
To what shall I compare. . .

The ocean?
With depths beyond comprehension,
Teeming with life in abundance,
Cold, yet comforting in it's embrace,
Swallowing me up in my entirety.

The meadow?
With tall grasses that dance in the wind,
Flowers mirroring the butterflies,
Soothing to a heart grown tired,
Engulfing the soul in its wavelike grace.

The mountains?
Reaching endlessly into the heavens,
Melting snow that washes downward,
Baptizing the world with waters,
Bathing me in the pristine, unadulterated flow.

The skies?
With the blaring sun that lights the world,
It's vastness beyond my scope of understanding,
Where stars twinkle in the night,
Reminding me that though gone, your light still shines.

Your eyes, to what can I compare,
Nothing of this world captures their depth,
Nor offers the soothing tranquillity,
Nothing cleanses me but your gaze,
Nor shines brighter than the light I see. . .

. . .In your eyes.
