Yesterday, at my school, I went and saw all the wonderful experiments young students did at the annual Science Fair. All of these wonderful students did wonderful experiments, but one particular experiment amazed me deeply, about the existence of fairies. The student by the name of Chaz Kraizer did a wonderful experiment, and though this magic cannot be proved, he had such great research. He shared a story and a picture about the mystical fairy Boon, and I was inspired to write this poem. Thank you, Chaz, and congratulations to everyone for their wonderful experiments! Boon By: Noah Eaton 1/5/01 (For Chaz) Fairies of the evening flock together in the secret garden Basking in the starburst of the serene mango moon Asterisms of arrowheads garment the charcoal porcelain skies Spit from the sweet honeyed reeds, breathed from hearts crossbow These kindred bards skip and sing together in the freshwater shallows Holding hands, they flutter their sheer silky wings, spinning like a winding top A breeze of golden dew they make, with hearts shared close Ripples form in the water, tears of pearls fall from jewel eyes and skip across the water Trinkets of each fairies eyes jet across the water, ricocheting in a circle Weaving a ring of starlight, and the pearls cavort from one side to the other Melting as they heat up with light, sparkling rays of starlight blanket the water A mandala is drawn out on the water, with a star shining in the middle The fairies slowly separate hands as they gather around the edge of the mandala Waving their arms upward like a tidal wave at high tide Glowing with the light of their wings of many colors, they all reach out to clasp hands A sky blue beam of pure light bursts from the star and into the star-studded skies The light quietly blazes through the skies like a melting rail spike, as the fairies are singing It touches a bright star, it glows blue as this kiss of spirit bounces across the obsidian sky Bouncing off all the stars in a constellation, all shining blue as the light begins to disappear Sapphires of the night are born again, winking with love and peace Colorful vapor bleeds from the stars, a crystal orb floats from the sky, glowing green and blue Surrounded by a cool ocean mist, easing to the touch It glows brighter and brighter as it slowly lands from the stars and upon the water The orb of light fades as it hits the water, a wise old cheerful fairy smiles warmly under his snow white beard, no other than their dear friend Boon Holding a small halbard that lights the sky with the comfortable ocean mist as it sways Haptic with absolute love, protecting children from nightmares and bad dreams Cool periwinkle skin that smells like lilacs, but a warm heart that beats with joy And blizzard hair as soft as fleece, that stretches down his back The loving Boon glows with pride, as he speaks his magic words every night, “Sha la na ra, sha la na rie Serenity and love shall fill this night Pa ra na day, pa ra da ree May love replace fear in children’s dreams Gentle whirlpool of spirit begins to boil in the silent water A thick comfortable mist fills the sky, spreading bold and quick like a leaping brushfire Though invisible to the naked eye, the mist can be felt As children across the world breathe it in their sleep, filling their visions with comfort Boon dances with cheer as the fairies greet him with joy and friendly laughter They wave warmly to Boon as he returns to his home in that cluster of stars So dream sweet dreams, all you children of the world Dream of happiness, dream sweet dreams… |
