Virginia Salter silver blades stand still, erect as if flocked in angel dust interrupted only by stems in autumn’s rust chill seeps in through nooks and crannies by osmosis seeps the doors await inside the cats and I above an icy floor just hours before twas yesterday perspiration was the glue that held the warm too close to us seemed winter was untrue yet, now, today with roof tops iced in candy-coated confection pale azure sky rimmed in mauve supply we huddle for protection yes winter’s still has grabbed again the air, the land, the sea and you and I wait quietly for warmth’s alleviation © January 6, 2001 |

Thanks, Brian! Your term haunting is a curious one to me, it surprised me, but I like that you've said that. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment! |

You have painted some very wonderful images in this creation of yours. I myself love winter and all it holds and I find peace in the knowledge that while much of nature is hibernating, the spring will bring with it many new births of color and beauty along with a refreshing warmth. Excellent penning. |
