What you took, What you left
By Richard Maxfield
1-5-2001

You have been gone a long time
But sometimes I still think about you
When I look around at what all you left
What you walked away from it says volumes
The things you took with you says things also

When you walked away theses are but a few things you left
Pictures of our babies are all still here
Baby books with all the memories of their birth
Our wedding book along with every picture of us
Not one picture of me did you take with you

You left all memories of our family
Pictures and memories of your family
Your mother and dad sister and brothers
My mother and sisters and brother
All memories of all our friends

The most important things you left behind
Is your daughter, with her loving heart
Her tear filled eyes as you walked
The one heart on this earth that loved you that most
A person that would have gave his life with out thought

What you took with you, the things you thought important
Like your collection of shot glasses
Pictures of your self-alone
Your clothes, what was left of your heart
Our bed, my love went with you
now its left behind

Very sad...it's truly too bad that these things have to happen. The saddest thing is the broken family with the children left to search their own soul so deeply before it's time for them to do so. My heart goes out to you Richard and I wish you the best as you press on into the future...there will be someone there for you...I just know it...take care   ethome

Ah Richard I am so sorry...take very good care of your daughter...she may say she understands, but if I get the gist of the poem and the truth it rings, all I can say is...I've picked up pieces of aftermath myself...hugs...

Hugs to you and smiles. One day you will be whole again. I believe in hope

Stone walls do not a prison make
Nor iron bars a cage
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for a hermitage
If I have freedom in my love
And in my s
