Preacher told a story On bended knee he prayed he told me to get ready for the coming judgement day He preached about the ending of this old worldly way he told me things I should do in order to get saved Preacher preached with fire denouncing sin and hate too bad I had to tell him for me, it was too late "I'd begged you! pleaded, & warned you! Still, you will not change! I tried for you, cried, would die for you! But look, You're still the same!" Preacher lost his fire, as he looked into my eyes he said,"you want the mire? then we must say our goodbyes" I gave him back his diamond, his golden band, and things "love is not contained, I said, within these wedding rings I’ve tried, cried, would've died for you, yet you couldn't let me BE! I've slaved for you, gave, I'm through with you Done now, is the deed..." Preacher held my hand tight not wanting to let go his godly duty to hold on proclaiming he loved me so but I think that I know better besides, I am no saint I've been the mayhem, horror the cause of his complaint I calmly pulled my hand back And gave him back his life I said, "I am not the woman, to be a preacher's wife.." He watched me walk away, Wondering what he could've done right nothing would've helped us, we'd tried with all our might... Preacher told a story about the coming judgement day he told any who would listen to get on their knees & pray... -Tier{Robin} 8/99 |

A sad and wonderous tale. In many faiths a divorce leads to a preacher losing his flock, for he can not serve as a pastor. This one threw me for a bit of a loop. I was not expecting that particular turn. Very well done. Jamie Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito. - Virgil. "Yield thou not to adversity, but press on the more bravely". |

Some times blind faith can lead us destroying some thing we care deeply about, powerful writing, enjoyed this alot. Too bad the preacher could not see that he could have loved his wife and still served God. It's in your eyes a fire that's wild and glorious Unhibited, unfinished in everything I do Let the morning rise like our hearts desire" whipping boy |

Good for this writer to walk away when it was not right. If it was you, dear Tier, then you did a brave thing. If not, you still did a great poem. Luv,Sandra |
