" I hate you, I wish you were dead!" I know, my daughter, but I still love you. " I hate you 'cuz your mean to my Dad!" I know, my daughter, but I still love you. She, only nine, can tear a heart apart The words, the looks, the slamming of doors No more smiles that could melt my heart Or hugs and kisses that used to end the war. Not old enough to understand the adults Not knowing everything won't always be the same Only wanting to hurt and lash out And the words from her heart came. Mommy's are supposed to make everything all right But you are not giving in as you did I'm really little and trying with all my might To understand, but I am only a kid! "I hate you and wish you were gone!" I know, my daughter, but I still love you Even I have, when young, sang that song And heard, I know my daughter and I still love you! It has to get better before it can get worse. |

Well and truly said. It's something they have to, and will learn about...then wish they were nine again, not knowing the truth; or fifteen, twenty-six, fifty-seven and wishing we didn't know the truth. jwesley |

jwesley: At only 9, think of the "lessons" she still has to learn. Thanks for reading. |

My Mom* I'm glad I read this prior to putting my make up on this morning...or it would have all run down my face...Being so far away you seem to be looking right into the living room and heart of my little angel. Everything is so hard on her right now...carrying the weight of the world on those little shoulders...you know they are the only ones that matter in this and it's killing me to not be able to take away the pain this time....This is an amazing poem my mom....you are a weaver and say it better than I can here...I love you and so does she...Thank you my mom....from the bottom of my heart~ |

Things said in anger seem so devestating but it happens with all of us. I have to leave you with Butterflies comments I thought they were so well done! I appreciate the facts of this poem and I know things have a way of working out as time passes....take care... ethome |

My Butterfly, I, too, wish I could take this adult time from our little-big one. Life isn't fair, but there it is! Love you and now you see why I don't wear make-up. ethome: Thank you for reading. I am sure we can all fill in the blanks at one time or another. |

If only we could insulate the little ones from pain, we'd gladly take on more of the hurt. *S* Wishing better times for you all... |

I remember being 12 and feeling the same way ... change is a very hard thing for a child to accept ... but once they feel secure in the new spaces things do turn around better days are ahead ... patience is the key easier said than done ... I know. Touching poem ME ... I know where your heart and thoughts are ... your sincere poetry reflects your love, concern and support. take care jm Am I loved by my words Will my vows weather the tide Bended knees can forsee all the rhythms of life And a heart can be held without pride ~Vante |

All we Moms can think about is taking away the pain that leads them to lash out. It will all work out, though. Very well expressed, ME! Denise |

Thank you, Janet Marie. I am sure things will work out for the little one. In the mean time, she is a prickly pear. Hope you are feeling better and love and hugs, Mother |

dsnyder: with the birth certificate, mom's should get a notice that we can't make all things all right for our kids. I wonder if that would make a difference. Probably not. Thanksand hugs for you, ME |

Butterfly, my kid! Sorry, I just wanted you to know I'v heard these words and understand. And it will get better. She will forget and you have to try. Love and hugs Charisma: I guess if we gave up because of the little ones words, that would make the hurt worse. Thanks & it will get better! tracie: Thanks for the hugs and reading serenity: Oh, how I wish it only took tears to heal, but it seems to help. I love those hugs.....thank you |

ME, In her own time and way she will see and understand. Not much you can do about that. Hang in there. I know you will find comfort in your butterfly. Well said here. LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

Thank you, Lone Wolf, for the words of encouragement. Like everything else, it is easier out in the open. Hugs, ME |

Yes, they do lash out sometimes. Inner feelings end up in turmoil when they can't express themselves or understand. Keep telling her that you love her, yet let her know she must respect you. I used to tell my children they could cry on my shoulder, cry in their pillow, but if they were mad and wanted to scream at me they better scream in their pillow. (that one worked some of the time) It will get better, hang in there. Hugs, Deb |

BloomingRose: I like your method...screaming into the pillow. I will have to pass that one along. I guess we all go through things like this growing up, at one end or the other. Thanks, ME |

This one I have read more than a dozen times since you have posted it and I am sorry that it took this long for me to reply to it. I know that you know why this one is so hard for me so I know that you understand why it took me this long to reply. I too found myself in a position when I was 12 that called on a lot of growing up quicker than I should have had to but time does give us answers and peace in the heart. It will be hard but the most important thing is that she knows she is loved and I know that butterflies will always do that. I know it is also hard on butterflies and though she sheds tears and you say she does cry, I feel a need to post something I wrote a long time ago for her. You will find it below and I hope you don't mind. I know her strength and I know she and the little one(s) will make it just fine and with you on their side, I have no doubt that it will be sooner than later. Hugs to you all and many prayers for all of you as well. ============== For both the mother and the daughter butterflies Butterflies Don't Cry They say that butterflies don't cry This is really true as you will see Just listen and I will tell you why Remember this is between you and me Tears of sorrow from a broken heart Displaced memories forming shades of grey No more yellow suns for each day to start Clouds of darkness from love thats gone away Eyes of green no longer will they shine Blue skies tossed aside with promises spent I beg of you just a little of your time On the tips of wings only happiness is sent Butterflies are not just mere little souls They are promises of love for all that seek Wings of purity guiding us to our quested goals Fluttering by for both the strong and the weak Flittering patterns of color and grace Distinguished beauty that only they can keep Tears of sorrow streaming down their face No not crying...for she's a lady...and ladies sweetly weep Mark Bohannan [This message has been edited by Mark Bohannan (edited 01-06-2001).] |
