A Hungry Blind Man. < !signature-->~~Daniel J D~~ Walking along to work Passers by barely noticing The old man Tin in his hand Not many stopping To drop a coin or two For his daily food Around his neck Reads a placard Please! I'm blind Oblivious to his plea Not any takers today He sighs and feels hunger Footsteps, approach Stops near, resumes march Excuse me! The beggar calls A dime for a poor man on the mall I have not eaten for three days It seems everyone is in a hurry Please sir, have mercy. But, my poor man I have no money Like you I have not eaten For many a day gone by I am a poet, sir It is all I do I write a few words or so Read a few lines At the other end of town However, I will do For you, a hopeful line Wiping the chalk, from the placard The Poet, wrote a few words and left. My friend, I can't read The old man frowned. Steps begin to slow The tin began to fill Overflowing, more and more People would stop The old man amazed Could not believe his luck A lady's step came to check Read the line, left a few coins Began to cry, and leave Thank you, he said! Please, can I ask you to tell me What's written on my placard You mean you do not know, she said! No Ma'am! A poet wrote the words Wishing me luck, ignored my call Well, she answered, he wrote! "Today is the first day of spring and I cannot see its beauty" Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) [This message has been edited by Daniel J D (edited 11-21-2000).] |

Daniel, A kiss for the touching I felt in my heart after reading this...I almost can't wait for spring to do this myself for someone else... or for now- Today the first snowflakes rested And all I could do was feel their kisses and imagine the beauty of their fall. ~Wynter inspired by your softness "The worst prison would be a closed heart". ...Pope John Paul II |

Eagleone, Nak, James, and Julie Ann, Thank you so much. Sometimes many of us take many things for granted. Some of us may even not notice it is spring. We can be so lucky. Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) |

Marge, I thank you so much. Yes this is a very moving poem, I often think of the things I have and can make use of, but not having sight is one of the saddest experience anyone can have. Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) |
