So Fast
Virginia Salter

just stepped into a new year
onto a calendar conveyance

barely got my balance
it was moving so fast

still is, minutes go by
in a blur,  a fog

already day 3 has begun
yet I’ve only arisen two dawnings

I want to reach for the switch
grab the lever, slow the train

my arms don’t seem long enough
or even strong enough

if, IF I could reach the handle of day
to hold the hours at bay

to still them, or slow them
to take time to breathe

just a simple breath
one simple breath, then maybe another

and a listen, a moment to listen
to that tiny voice in the distance

or within the depths of me
pleading for sanity in that which is called

LIFE

Oh please SLOW the train...I don't want to get off, I just want to savor life a little longer...

The older I get the faster time goes. Now I'm able to enjoy, it won't slow down to let me "smell the roses".

Thank you both for reading and commenting.  And yes, with age, comes the speed of time.

funny, I stare at the clock wishing it could go faster sometimes... i guess I should be careful about what I wish for, huh?

Yep!  We all have times like that though.

The most profound experience with time, for me, was when my mother lay dying. It was taking forever for my daughter to get to her grandma's bedside, yet time was speeding my mother's life away.  All of time was out of control, totally. I was being torn asunder as time morphed before my very eyes, almost.
