A voice inside,
Is watchful and wary,
Of outside forces,
Pushing inside boundaries.
Be careful treasured closeness,
Protect with your shell,
This soft and open organ.
Given to delusional bouts,
Of screaming emotion,
Outbursts frequently,
Rupture extra strength stitches,
Both new and ancient.
Two times a heart broken,
Is only once,
And even partially mended.
The math of it,
Doesn't equal the years,
But it is well enough,
To have caused distress.
Don't push buttons,
That are covered in dust,
Lest the trap beneath your feet,
Lies in wait to spring its doors,
And devour you once again.
In haste,
Be still.
In stillness,
Make haste,
And always cover your footprints,
If you can.

Can I be your willful breeze,
Come to touch,
Your heart to ease?

Oh....this one is a gem, my friend!! I see some of my own protective measures in this one, and it makes me think. I love the last line....'cover your own footprints if you can".... that is so great!!

Very interesting how these ideas have all come along and turned into another facet of poetry. The guarded heart the broken love the refections of brief romances...ah art seeks all avenues of escape from the creative mind. ....this is very well done!

A memorable read this was

In haste,
Be still.
In stillness,
Make haste,
And always cover your footprints,
If you can.

I'll try.. it is certainly not always possible.
