I suppose you could say that New Year's has brought out this melancholy state of mind ~IF YOU LOOK AT ME WITH EYES CLOSED~ If just once you looked at me with eyes closed then you would not see the pain of my iced heart freeze the air around me causing the once delicately blended colours of my tresses and body to fade and melt into somber rainbows then you would not see the ugliness of time's cruelty upon my brow nor would you see the scars and mangled flesh the regrets worn in my frown or my piercing eyes stare through you seeking solace screaming for peace yet refusing it If you could see me with eyes closed you would not know the truth in my movement the truth that I have run endless circles around desperate to escape it's harsh reality yet still, it is true... that I am worthless then you would not see the sickly blue-mauve fingertips from the days warmth was devoured out from life's vultures then you would not see the rumble of defeat race through my fingers to break in pieces upon my feet you would not see the bruises upon my knees from the pressure of kneeling in prayer now meaningless pleas that never reached the heavens or so I convince myself for it is better to believe the appeasing lie that you never knew of such prayers rather than face the fact that you ignored my pain that you just didn't care you would not see that you have given me more than I can handle If just once you closed your eyes to me you would not be forced to see the plethera of tears from many nightfalls before now evident in my heavy lids stained from trying to hold their acidic sadness in yet failing succombing to their intensity you would not see the december of my years haunting me worn like a ghostly trenchcoat by pale skin Maybe if instead you felt my being placed your hand upon my chest you would feel my heartbeat fractured though it may seem and know that I too, have spirit and dreams and cares dwelling inside those same miracles you breathed within my soul at the dawning of my existence here on earth If only you could really see me with eyes closed then superficiality would not guide such eyes to deem me unworthy of love and joy or undeserving of a chance to begin anew all of a sudden I would be a someone I'd stand tall and maybe the small corners of my mouth would lift up to reveal a smile perhaps Lord if you look at me with eyes closed you would finally love me and forget for a passing moment that I am not a mistake then maybe just maybe you could envision beauty at last and paint me a picture to freedom... *By Melissa Honeybee* The beauty of poetry gives my soul wings to fly free within dreams |

Ah, Melissa, this is sooooo sad. Very well expressed. I'm sure we've all felt this way at one time or another. I know I have. Now, close your eyes and envison His outstretched arms of love open wide for you, no matter the circumstances of life, no matter how insignificant you imagine yourself to be. He hears every word, feels every tear and crys along with you. *HUGS* Denise |

if I look at you with eyes closed I see the light of power around you arms open, holding you close, protecting you if I look at you with eyes closed I hear your voice crying in the night being answered by one that can dry any tear but if I look at you with eyes closed I cannot read your words from your heart and from your soul, they speak of your heart and if I look at you with eyes closed I cannot see your face full of life despite the scars, smiling amid the darkness open your eyes and see that you are loved open your eyes and see that you are cared for and that the angels above see you as you are a being of light a being of love for they too, have opened their eyes. . . Hugs to you my wonderful friend. . . ------------------------------------------------------ That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |
