The Dance begins, and I've no one to take my hand
It's been so long since I've danced, it's a wonder I'm here at all
I can see all of them out there, they seem so happy
I used to be like that, dancing my life away.

But the Dance ended for me long ago
What a Dance it was though,
You and I would be gone until the rise of the Sun
We would move and sway and flow without a care.
But the Dance is over now, and I don't even know if I can hear the music.

That's when I felt the tap on my shoulder,
And that voice,
"Pardon me Miss, may I have this dance?"
He said from beneath that hat,
That hat that gave him confidence, even though he's still a bit shy
You would think that he's done this before
and with all of the others there, clamoring for his attention,
why would he want to Dance with me?

But, I've learned not to ask, even though I've always been a little shy myself
So, I took that chance, and I said,
"You may Cowboy"
And so, we Danced, and the world disappeared.

With the spurs on his boots jinglin like mad
He gazed upon the lady waiting for a dance to be had
His eyes full of stars and his mind just a bit hazy
He fell into her stare and his heart went crazy

No longer would he wonder if he would share this dance
As this lovely lady has agreed to give him a chance
His feet as light as feathers as he took her soft hand
Dancing across the heavens with her will surely be grand

Yes, then the world disappeared.........

The skies reflect the mood in the night
As two hearts find they can no longer fight
Trusting in the friendship they have grown
Dancing among the clouds calling them their own

Softly wrapped in each others careful embrace
Waiting for the flow of emotions they now face
Caring gazes resting in each others eyes of trust
Living the music that over time has become a must

Wow.  I'm just a little amazed to see the responses to this one.

Irish Rose, thank you.  I'm glad that you liked it.

Sunshine, I really didn't MEAN to write this with anyone in mind, it just happened that way!     Thank you.

Cathy, thank you so much!

PoetdeVine, thank you for your words, they mean a lot.

Janet Marie, sometimes, if you wait, you get that chance.  I don't know if this is it, but we'll see.  Thank you.

Mark, well, okay, you caught me.     How can I thank you for all that you've done for me?  You've been a great friend, and the only way that I knew to thank you was in this way.  If no one else minds, may I cut in??

There is nothing like the memory of such a dance, is there? You have a beautiful writing style. Thanks for sharing.
