On the Threshold for 12/31/00

and my thoughts take me
to the verge of merge
from one day
to the next
always a promise
a nonstop newness
a beginning of
neoteric
(question tho,
where's the missing cleric?)

Ah, the sun shall dawn
on resolution
and rousing
constitution
on my comrades
and my peers
and in their quiet
I'll hear their cheers…

this crossing over…
a mark of time indeed…
how many have
crossed a century mark
before
how many would then heed
the tapping on new door
and wonder then,
"what ever more?"

trepidation shall be gone
I've lived on and on and long
and thirty years ago
my mind then did not know
that the crossing over in time
would allow me to unwind
such as I have
alongside of you
my dear,
we shall propel us through….

my dreams shall carry us
into the future of the light
and I fear not an uneasy ride
no, I fear nor dread nor hide,
for my soul is bright

the hoopla was all last year
and this inspiring year
we've now had ~ have
given us times of joy
and
given us times of sad
then some days have
given some of us a revelation
and
these promises portend
that the good times plighted
will certainly not end
thus reason for celebration!

so veer with me
on the verge of merge
on these the last days
the minutes and hours
before us lay
ticking down, quiet-like
and will take us
to the new dawn's light

so to you, my dearest friend,
my comrade, my beloved,
hearken that you might hear,
enjoy this then your new century
and peace be in your New Year….

'this crossing over…

Yes !
This is just full of promise and sharing.
Hold my hand in verse as we all cross over together.
*Hugs* to you, dear lady.

karilea-
reminded me of jimmy buffett... he said he had "the urge to merge"... and was looking for a "smart lady in a real short skirt"... or was that a "short lady in a real smart skirt"? oh geez... i get my lyrics mixed up... anyway... loved this poem... it's quite a look at a year past and a year forward but i was just wondering...

do we HAVE to do another one???

i mean... is there ANY way you can wave a magic wand or something or make your words cause a better year next year?... sighsighsigh... well, one sighs fits all...

but anyway... 2000 wasn't all that bad... i got rid of deadweight, started a new life, fell in love, and all that good stuff... and here i am still... tapping away... tap tap tap... *sigh*

great write, k.... happy new year, my friend!!!

doreen, in answer to the REAL question, I would have to say...it's better than the alternative....

and I will DO what I can with my wand, I promise!

tap tap tap...

Hugs to you my simonwized friend...

A poem of hope and anticipation for the new year...as it should be.
It's like the fable of the man approaching a new city who asks an old man sitting on a rock "What kind of people live down there? The old man asked "What kind of people were in the town you left?"
"Oh, they were loud, arrogant, mean people", to which the old man said "The people here will be the same." Shortly thereafter another traveler came up and asked the old man the same question. "What kind of people were in the town you left?" the old man asked him. The newcomer replied "They were very kind, generous and giving" and the old man replied
You will find the same here."

I guess I'm taking a very roundabout way of saying that the way we view things influence greatly the way they will turn out. If we look at the new year coming with hope and enthusiasm and a promise of good fortune in store it is much more likely to come true than viewing it as "just another year". Allow me to join you in your enthusiasm, sunshine

Charisma, I think you need to read 'Deer's reply...he has all of the answers...

Kit, glad I could supply an answer, I guess I heard your call...ESP is quite inexpensive, and always most accurate...hugs to you, be well, and call on me when you need me...

'Deer, you might use your roundabout ways more often...I love sharing parables and stories...and yes, Sir, please join in my enthusiasm...it is freely given...

thank you much Noah for your enthusiasm as well!...

Nate, kind thoughts and remarks, thank you!...
