Ghosts and Goblins Virginia Salter ghosts and goblins on a toot eating worms and ginger root kicking cats with heavy boots on an autumn morning bats and rats dance a jig underneath a barren fig singing songs of lonely pigs all on a sunny dawning monsters swim deep in the sea warlocks plot a victory witches fly in Tennessee as daylight is breaking pumpkins round and orange aglow candy corns make quite a show spider webs hold flies in tow All Hallows Eve is coming snakes and lizards slither by underneath a darkened sky newts and bat wings flutter high as you and I are dreaming nightmares scream and scratch on doors sneaky steps ‘cross creaky floors stars burn out as cider pours as we all face the evening. © October 24, 2000 |
