The Skies Belong To Her Cornered and captured, she was so cruelly caged. Repeatedly ravished, she rebelled and raged. Scared, scarred and beaten, her spirit still soared; Righting wrongs of a lifetime, she resoundingly roared. Alone in the ashes, could hope still abound? Where she, facing the fire, by dawns firstlight was found. And his tender touches on feathers tattered and torn Were masked by love’s magic on that misty morn. Out of triumphs and trials, trickled her tears There far from the faces of her unfamthoned fears. As his soft spoken words shouted life in her soul; Healing wings that were wounded and making her whole. Fearlessly now, she must first fall to fly; So she leaps, spreading wings, to sail in the sky And though once she was wingless, saddened and wronged She now soars the skies where she’s always belonged. Ruth: Very powerful and hopeful! I loved the ending, it was very moving. This poem reminds me of my mom and the "battle" she faced with my father and gives me great satisfaction that both my mom and the woman in the poem found freedom in the sky as it was meant to be Melissa The beauty of poetry gives my soul wings to fly free within dreams |
