state of confusion

Dear Santa:

The children have drawn their lists
in sloppy handwriting for you,
they've doubted your existence
for a couple of years now,
but I just say -
if they don’t believe
they don’t need presents.
That ends THAT discussion!

They don’t realize
you represent Jesus
guess I have failed in that regard,
church always left me
vaguely dissatisfied,
I can’t reconcile
the corporation with religion
even though I know
it takes organization and money
to run a house of God,
doesn’t it?

I hope it’s okay if we just pray
In our own way.
Somehow, I think it is
(Catholic guilt aside).

So, anyway,
the only present on my list
you’ve already given me,
by simply showing me
where strength lies.

Thank you
and Happy Birthday!

Forever Yours,

Corinne

how your words fill the thought of me that in my pasture I seek He and thee...

Yes Corinne, there is a Santa Claus...and because He is just and right, there will be
the magic tonight

he shall heed this letter of yours, and faith and value shall be reassured

so in your dreams tonight this time...remember that He gave you rhyme

He gave you reason and skill and care...
because of this, your gifts you share...

I am not one for mixing business with pleasure...
So, I say without doubt, He loves without measure.
Durring these festive days of new childlike treasure,
I look into the heart of Christmas and
believe.

God Bless You and Merry Christmas!

I can surely relate to all of this... and I've always said the same thing about believing... funny... my kids are grown up now... and they STILL believe.. they do, they do...

I like this one, Corinne..

Catholic guilt is always the worst isn't it Corinne??

Excellent poem. . . and believe me, He's read it. . .
