STOP I didn’t ask for the hand that you dealt me I have no choice but to bluff Ok, so I’ve won a couple of tricks but, Dealer, I’ve had enough Take this glass away from me Your liquor is potent stuff I’m driving under the influence of your love and the punishment is tough Don’t draft me in your armed forces This uniform (and yours) is a sham Let me strip nude, bare to the very soul Let me be who I am |

Love the metaphorical illustrations in this poem. The ending is so passionately important because everyone has to be themself sooner or later... this is very well written!.....have a nice holiday....ethome |

Thank you, ethome ) I'm glad you enjoyed my use of metaphors; I've been "accused" by some readers of abusing them in my poetry lol. "Be yourself" : it's a motto I aim to live by every day. Imagine what the world would be like if we all followed it. Happy Holidays to you too. |

Be Yourself...I have this problem...often no one believes I am who I am...that it can't possibly be so...and that is a hard thing to prove...sorry you have me pondering *smiles* and Merry Christmas to you ~Wynter "The worst prison would be a closed heart". ...Pope John Paul II |

elisaseyes, Thank you and Merry Christmas Wynter (nakdthoughts) Don't apologize, I know exactly what you feel. I have been struggling for years to show people who I really am. It seems that everything I try to do or say gets misinterpreted and I end up being misunderstood. It's a bit cliched but I always seem to fall into that saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions". I hope one day to finally be able to show my true colors. Thanks and Merry Christmas - Jeff |

Thank you, Paula; you are one of the few friends I have made over the years that has allowed me to open up to them. It means a lot that you "see" me. Merry Christmas and may we "see" more of each other in the coming year. (heh heh.. I want to see A LOT more! couldn't resist )) |

rascalx, it's a great write, maybe your prayer should be "O Lord please don't let me be misunderstood" then people could see what a truly great person you are. write on Kethry Religion is for people frightened about going to hell - Spirituality is for people who have been there. Anon. |

Kethry, Thank you; I agree that often times a little prayer helps. Now I have that song going through my head lol. "oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood" |
