I almost went to sleep tonight without remembering that you kissed me today for the first time in years... and how I kissed you back, cautiously shy, as though you'd never been my lover. [This message has been edited by Beki (edited 12-28-2000).] |

Beki - This is so melancholy - a message for us all - the love is there, we need only remember. |

Thanks for reading, Long John..it is interesting to me how everyone keeps interpreting this poem the same way as you. I can see that in it yes....but the real circumstances that prompted the poem were quite different, much more positive. It was written after I was kissed by a lover from whom I had been separated for 5 years.WHat I found so interesting in the moment, and tried to reflect in the poem, was that the kiss was shy, like a first kiss, though we had been lovers for several years before. |

Yes...the shyness is what I felt... I, like you, am drawn to the fact that even though love was there before, it can feel so brand new!! Great read, my friend!! Write on! -<--<--{(@ |
