Ramblings
By Richard Maxfield
12-24-2000

Teardrops frozen in time on my cheek
Crying for the lost soul of the past
Loss of the further
Dreams and plans fade
As the clock ticks slowly
Time standing still as it rushes by

Hollow words once carried meaning
Unspoken words scream for an ear
Yet the backs of the once loved have no ears
Deaf ears hearing but not understanding
Words of the heart echoing into the abyss
Truth escapes while lies live

Blind eyes seeing only what they want
Eyes searching for the hidden truth
Clouded by the haze of untruth
Seeing into the heart of stone
Some eyes see into the darkness
Yes my eyes see but look away

Unconnected hearts no longer beat
Not hearts of flesh but of stone
You think you know love you heart
Hard cold stone heart how do you live
How do you find love or does it matter
So selfish you heart of stone

The clock slowly ticks
Time standing still as it rushes by

"Ramblings" of many truths. Time passes by so fast and yet when were hurting it seems to stand still.

Richard...oh wow...this sure cuts deep...and you write the pain so beautifully I love these lines
Deaf ears hearing but not understanding
Words of the heart echoing into the abyss
Truth escapes while lies live

Love the whole poem but these just grabbed me

Just cannot respond better than inot2B.  I agree completely!  When I was watching my mother die and waiting, hoping, my daughter would arrive before my mother, her grandma, had breathed her last, time raced and stood still all at once.  Those moments, minutes, hours were so greatly filled with agony.  Time is more relative than Einstein showed through science.

Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure where this came from but it just flowed out as a rambling so that is what I named it.
Thanks again for the comments.
Love and light,
Richard
