On A Park Bench Of Remember
~*Marge Tindal*~

After midnight I go walking,
strolling through the memories of you.
Tell me, darling, do you ever
walk the same streets that I do ?

In a small cafe along the way
the candles cast a flickering flame.
God, how you dance within my memory,
as our silhouettes waltz once again.

In a garden on the corner,
I see us there and catch my breath.
On a park bench of remember,
it's as though we never left.

Holding hands under a starlit sky,
so full of the glow of the moon.
Oh, my darling, how I remember
the scented air of gardenia in bloom.

Into the daybreak I'm still strolling
across the memories of you.
Tell me, darling, do you ever
take the same walk that I do ?

I have often wondered the same, and you put it to words well...thank you Marge, for knowing the inner me...

Yes, it seems to me that it wouldn't be fair
for only one to keep the memories ~
I'm sure they are shared.

Krista~
I'm always glad to share with those who find
the pictures in what I write.

Kit~
Sweet friend, thank you.
Merry Christmas to you.

Oh Marge! It may just be my melancholy mood but I think this is just perfect. Sensational! I think this will become my favourite of yours. I love it.

I remember opening this poem when there was zero replies, hoping I'd get to be the first one. After I finished reading the poem over and over again, I realized that nine people all replied to this in like 60 seconds. I'm not trying to jump on the bandwagon when I say, Marge, you are an exceptional poet, and a devout dreamer of dreams

Oh, I remember sitting on that park bench of remember
I think it was in August or it could have been September
We fed the pigeons, chased the ducks and watched the children play
Believed in all the things of love in which the poets say.

The pigeons have since flown away...the ducks float lifelessly
They have since that cold winter's day you walked away from me
But now I have forgotten you and that day in December
To me you're just a splinter on the park bench of remember

Mr.Balladeer~
Hello.  I don't believe we've met.
I'd ask you to join me here on this park bench of remember -
but my flirt will be here just any minute !
And I wouldn't want him to splinter you !

are you trying to send them a message? if so perhaps you should put a bit more edge in the tone. I loved thegeneral theme but the tone may need a bit of sharpening because the second and third stanza's come off a little fuzzy...which may be the point but still seem a tad incongruous. nice work though and good luck!

So many times I have wondered the same thing...  Is he looking up at the stars at the exact moment I am, like we used to do.  Is he remembering what we were doing on this day a year ago like I am??

Excellent write....

My question is rather simple:
Do I ever cross your mind?
Are there special memories
You savor like vintage wine?
Or is your life so busy now
Are you so fulfilled
You don't spare a thought for me?
I loved you... always will.

This poem more than lives up to the superb title, Marge... it's one of your best! *S*
