Looking out my window today
My mind wanders to days of yesterday
Where memories seem to abound
Leading me to hallowed ground

I see snowflakes everywhere
All the way from here to there
Nothing else is in sight
In the peacefulness I delight

I am transported to another time
When I began writing words of rhyme
It was nature that first inspired me
To write of the wonders that I see

It was she who encouraged me each day
A ray of hope showing the way
Telling me to write it down
All these visions far from town

So I wrote of the beauty I'd beheld
Imagination and memories together I'd meld
From the forest to the frozen lake
No one could match the pictures I make

Today as I look at all this snow
To the north my mind begins to go
Where I spent much of my childhood
Inside I'm filled with a warmth so good

Jennifer, nature nurtures us, it is a cycle where nothing ever dies, it restores itself, and writing about it restores us, and nurtures us, I believe.  I am probalby the most die-hard nature lover, it runs a close second to my romanticism, and I believe that in nature we have renewal.  Let it renew you, even the snow, remember it's immaculate, pure and white, and even before it touches the ground each flake is imprinted, much like our own signature.  Special, unique, from the ones that fall on your nose to the ones that rest on your windowpane.  But remember most of all, we are more special than those snowflakes because we have souls.  God bless...

so I never have to live without you."

wonderful verse of beginings and coming full circle...
and so nice to see your name here again as well.

Lone Wolf,
Excellent writing.  Enjoyed the read.

there is rapture on the lonely shore
there is society where none intrudes
by the deep sea, and music in its roar
I love not man the less but nature more

I have to agree with Kathleen on this one. . . nature helps us find who we are. . . in the call of the wind, we hear our souls. . . in the sound of the water, we know our hearts. . . nautre speaks to us. . . through us. . . and through others to us. . .

Just be sure that you don't miss the lesson. . .

Great poem. . .

Kathleen . . . Very true my friend.  Nature is healing and naturing for the soul.  When I look at the wonders of nature, I feel the renewal begin.  The snowflakes are special and unique.  In a way they are comforting when they softly fall to the ground.  A sight to behold.  I will remember . . .thank you.

Poeminister . . . Glad you enjoyed.  Thank you!

vandana . . . Thanks.

sp . . . glad I could convey the beauty of it all.

Sven . . . I know it does.  I have always known it.  Thank you.

Tracie . . . Happy to share the images with you my friend.  Hey, want some snow??  LOL.
