Miss the times when we were younger
and the love we did invest
and of all the love I kicked around
I thought ours was the best.
But I was never there for you
and it drew us far from close.
I was in sales and telling tales
and drinking patron's toasts.
I showed no favour for your choice
and you spent your time alone.
Now that you're gone and time moves on
I know I did you wrong.

All the good times I could find
took me far away from you
now my lonely heart and mind
roam round this empty soul
and the lesson lingers overtime
and I'm wishing you were home.

I call you in the early morning
to draw the past to mind
a brave new me, a change complete,
I offer to your mind.
You talk to me and my heart flips
I beg you back again.
A concerned woman you see me
and I can't seem to win.
It's plain and simple who's to fault
and your worries shake me off
but you turn heartache into hoping
and I'm glad to hear you talk.

Through all the years you held my name
and stated your place with style
and in the stress you'd address
the absence of my smile.
But your hopes went sadly thin
I destroyed your cause,
I didn't see your needs then
I sought my own appaluse.
Your love finally turned to ice
it took a long long time,
now I live with the sacrifice
of pushing you from my mind.

I remember our first home
a single captured thrill
and our driven dreams where the future gleams
with the needs that all must fill.
And the late nights laying back
talking after love
and the fire there that burnt the air
was the flame of all first loves.

Now I've turned to other means
you say your heart wont mend,
so I push on into somewhere
and I call you now and then.
But when it's very late at night
and I turn to share your soul
I cry softly to myself
while another plays your role.
So the good times ruined my time
and I know I'm still alone
beneath the scars I need your heart
and I'm wishing you were home.

ahhhhh how I do so love your bittersweet rhymes kissed in your gift of cadence ...
this is the E-poetry I fell for upon first read...
be it happy or a touch melancholia....you just do this so very well ...
"this" being writing of love from your heart of wisdom...
and as always the melody is there playing between the lines.
so cool are you sweet poet of the north

P T, this is such an amazing and heart written piece from you love. Utterly wonderful, Oh the way we treat our nearest and dearest. We don't see what we have, or what we are losing, it's a shame, but you're right there is no point in looking back. Keep our eyes to the front, onward and upward. (I think it's the first holiday on your own that's the worst, now that's another reason I'm working!) Let those with young families and live in partners enjoy the day together I say. Anyway someone has to work so it might as well be me.

This is a superb piece from you it really and truly is.
and yes I love it too
Take care

strange how love lost themes are the most common.  I found this stanza to be profound. Hind sight is always 20/20. Well written.

Through all the years you held my name
and stated your place with style
and in the stress you'd address
the absence of my smile.
But your hopes went sadly thin
I destroyed your cause,
I didn't see your needs then
I sought my own appaluse.
Your love finally turned to ice
it took a long long time,
now I live with the sacrifice
of pushing you from my mind.

If a dream touches us,
it exists to us as anything
else that touches us.

My friend, if I told you how close this comes to my past then it would scare the heck out of ya.  Wonderfully written to show the past misgivings and remorse found as one grows older and wiser and the flow and the feel of the entire piece were splendidly penned.  I applaud you my friend for many reasons but for sure in drawing me into this one so well and making me feel the pain of loss and sorrow.

This was a beautiful poem....i know how painful it is when you lose someone you love because you've neglected their needs...sometimes you never do realize what you have until they're gone and all you can do is hit yourself for being so blind in the past...hang in there and wait for Time to heal your wounds.

Men don't cry but this poem brought tears to my  eyes. I know how i felt when I lost my first love. Wasn't easy. I know how your person must've felt. Below is how?

How'd I ever Feel
Lancelot {Bilal} © 2000

How'd I ever feel
Your feelings towards me

How'd I ever feel
Your thinking towards me

How'd I ever feel
If the gap just increases

How'd I ever feel
Your touch & emotions

How'd I ever feel
Your lovely sensations

How'd I ever feel
Your sweet scent in air

How'd I ever feel
Warmth in your heart

How'd I ever feel
Your pain & sorrow

How'd I ever feel
Happiness that you borrow

How'd I ever feel
If the gap just increases

How'd I ever feel
Across this wall between us!

wow..i must say i took this rather personally..there is one who has sd all these things to me lately..and it hurts to read them here..and i, being the one in concern and worry, and of attempt to let that other person be a changed man....its tough..you know people as they prove themselves to be..and when they make a big change, its sometimes with a bit of skeptisicm that you do your best to believe in the change...
of course you didnt write these words to me..lol..but the ache is in my chest as if HE were the one who wrote them..they fit right into the puzzle.. and it hurts because i dont like for anyone to hurt..and if i am in any way part of the hurt--as she is part of yours--it hurts just that much more..

sorry to take up so much room with my personal take on your write..!  i'm off now...

great writing my friend..

hugs, g
