       Destiny's Heart
If I were a poet
In another place
In another time...
If I were not a foolish dreamer
caught entangled in a classic scenerio
Then you'd no longer be merely a vignette
of my unrelenting fantasy.

My dreams are woven in Pavlovian romance,
adorned in the traditional wardrobe
of eras gone by.
You are the quintessential paragon of beauty
that takes my soul to the precipice
of all that is Eden.
An artisan, you have become to me
with cerulean eyes
that captivate me in such exigency.

But my abstract dreams are a colored anachronism,
for time will not allow me to cross the boundaries of destiny.
Still, I touch you with my eyes
that penetrate into your soul
in between stolen moments of my reality,
as a vestige of passion haunts me in my darkness.
I reach for you in my emptiness, as I lay in my bed,
my arms gentle and longing like an angel.
Dying secretly in my desire,
to wrap my broken wings around your strength
and your passion. My heart lies bleeding,
crying tears of a longing no man has ever satisfied.

I know your love would consume my own,
if only you could keep me.
Your fires would ignite with my touch
taking us into a blaze of glory
that would melt the very edges of heaven.
And our inner-most souls
would bond in a union more beautiful
and more infinite than nature has ever painted.

In this labyrinth of fate we call life,
not you, nor I have yet traveled full circle.
Perhaps, as the years turn into mists of memories
and the miles become eroded with time
the love that lives hidden inside my heart,
that burns between time and destiny...
...will someday bring your heart home to mine.

Athena...this is wonderful...truly wonderful...deserves reading after reading...until we might come full circle...

not you, nor I have yet traveled full circle.

But still you keep on travelling
for your poets heart is craving
for words and sentences and poems
to break this border between fate and dreams
to find this place where true love gleams

This is really a wunderful read....

Thank you so much, Bjorn. Poets hearts always have so many new miles to travel, so many more dreams to thread into our reality.  Your words of encouragement make me want to keep the journey in my embrace, and explore each horizon. Hope to read more of your poetry...

Just gorgeous, Elise/Athena. I could re read this many times. Methinks it speaks of David Reynolds, or perhaps Richard Collier?

Dear Ethan,
Your kind words mean more than you know.  Thank you so much for the heartfelt reply.  I'm new here, and I am really feeling welcome.  I loved the reference to the "bellboys".Frankly, I think I have more "emotional baggage" than they can carry!
I will be looking for your work and will reply back.
            Best wishes,
