Within the castle walls the Princess sleeps...
The castle’s made of ancient stone upon which
ivy creeps...
A fortress true with gated moat, encircled by a fence...
A  challenge fit for any handsome Prince...

The castle’s built upon a rocky knoll...
Which overlooks a heathered glen, protected by a Troll...
With wicked grin and evil curse, he keeps young men away...
He’ll make the Princess fair his own,
someday...

She sleeps by night and spends her dreams in tears...
Her castle is her prison, and has been for many years...
By day, she weaves a magic spell, upon her
trusty loom...…
Protecting her by night within her room...

One day a handsome Prince rode on the land...
a Scottish warrior through and through,
from Scotland’s fiercest clan...
He’d heard of the Troll and Princess fair,
and set his sights to see...
If he could be the one to set her free...

Upon the glen, he called the Troll by name...
He knew the legend of the beast, and from his horse
he sprang...
He also knew the sound that dropped a Troll within
it’s tracks...
So pulled his pipes down off his stallion’s back...

Across the glen there echoed notes sublime...
A cadence strong, with rising pitch, relayed in perfect time...
(As everyone knows a Troll cannot abide a piper’s song)...
So as he blew, he knew it wouldn’t be long...

At last the Troll appeared upon the scene...…
with eyes bugged out and hands on ears,
he then began to scream...
With smiling face the Prince got close and blew
with all his might...
The Troll exploded, to everyone’s delight!!

The handsome Prince drew near the castle gate...
He knew the maiden waiting there was his by gift of fate...
He’d saved her from her prison walls and life with the horrible Troll...
So, patiently he waited on the knoll...

At last, the Princess came to take his hand...
Her beauty far surpassed what he had heard across
the land...
With chestnut hair and emerald eyes, and heart of
purest gold...
The Princess stole the Prince’s very soul...

They lived for many years upon the knoll...
and all their children’s children loved to hear their story told...
And to this day, when pipers play, you feel a wee bit o' suspense...
You can almost see the Princess fair, on the knoll
with her Scottish Prince...

Evening Sunny,

What a lovely tale you have woven, I read and I just loved it. My, you are one terrific story teller. I can't get over this beautiful story that you have put to rhyme, only as you can.

Congratulations on your new web site. I haven't been there yet, but I will make a visit soon.

Well, I do thank you, and am glad that you liked this story, too. Sometimes I think my muse lived centuries ago, as I have always loved fairy tales, with fair maidens and their knights to save them!!
Once again, thank you, Bill!!

A beautifully composed fairytale!  I too, live in that surreal world of Princes on white horses, and the romance and chivalry of days gone by. May you find your Prince, and ride into the sunset. There has to still be a world out there like that that is total euphoria.  Your writing brings it to life!

I am so glad you liked this.......as we are twins, do you enjoy fairy tales? I guess it's just wishful thinking, about "happily ever after."

Though I loved your little fantasy my sweet sister, you don't need to create fantasy as you yourself are fantasy in it's finest light.  Wonderful read and so full of YOU!!!!!  That is one of the reasons it holds the eyes of the reader in awe.
