Listening to every heart

Resigned

She tried
oh she tried
so much so
she finally cried
“enough, enough”
and turned
it off, but the music
continued on
in her soul

and lifted her,
made her sing
and carry a tune (she
could not sing)
but she had
not forgot
the words he spoke
and she choked
and coughed
“turn it off,
turn it off”
and still the music
continued on
in her soul

and like a top ten tune
perhaps it would be
her destiny and ruin
(by design)
and she would be
in like resigned
to think of the day
when
the music wouldn’t stop.

Resignation ruled
and while
she was
no one’s fool
she knew the ins
and outs
and could not
act ice cool

heaven forbid
she shook to the
tune of a ringing phone
and the radio’s
jazzy saxophone
let alone
the Golden Oldies

Pina Coladas

everything reminded
her
of why she was
so unsure
and how she never
acted this way
from day to day
to day today

Resigned.

Resighed.

Realigned.

By design.

SEA, somehow I knew you might...thank you for being here, especially today...

Marsha, by the time I got around to answer this, I've read your "pressie" and loved it...I'm still trying to figure out why I'm Persephone...and I've had a wonderful day, bless you...

Thank you Rich, for looking in....

Sunshine, this is MUCH deeper than an initial reading would suggest. Think I'll read it again......

BWA...thank you for coming in to read...

Sven...yes you are...thank you...

'Deer, if you get this one figured out, tell me...I'm still trying to figure out why Marsha thinks I'm akin to Persephone...and now I'm studying Greek mythology to figure it out...and hey...thanks for coming in to read...

because I like the self exposing poetry she writes - I read Doreen - because I love the wonderful insights - I read yours - now I know I can go to you for both

Wilfred, thank you...I read doreen not once, not twice, but over and over...she gives so much inspiration and not once but a multitude of times have I been tunneled through a whirlwind of her words and end up finding mine...

Thank you.
