************************* FLIGHTS OF FANCY *********************** Strip me of these tired rags, gray and soiled from labor. Bathe me in fragrant exotic oils, the essence of Far East Lotus Blossom, and softly sponge my thirsty skin.. while singing sparrows gather closely on my paint-chipped window sill ...in a harmonic trio. And, let the orange dawn reflect her majesty on all of me. Adorn me in ruffled layers of fine white antique Irish lace, sown atop fragile crimped crepe that tickles my bare feet, and leaves a delicate trail behind me ...as I stand with grace and dignity. Prepare my drab dull umber hair in long Victorian drooping curls that frame my weather worn face, and nest the soft tucked pedals of sweet white 'baby's breath' within the folds on the crown of my head. Embelish me in priceless jewels. Place strands of tiny Tahitian pearls around my naked neck until they cascade gently upon my frilly bodice. Slide a golden ring...a sparkling solitare on my finger, and thin tulle gloves to hide my blistered hands. Now lead me at once.. to the Grand Dinning Hall where the Royal Prince awaits me.. Where I can fill my two hungers, for lucsious foods, and ever lasting love. Ah yes, I imagine these things of fancy, while hovered in my cold impoverished reality. I dream these things not with bitterness, ..but I do it with a smile...! mutington/joyce "I can live by myself, but not within myself." |

What time does this flight leave? I want to be on it also....'Flights of Fancy' alright! Very well done Joyce! I love this type of fantasizing it brings so much creative thinking to the fore and the reader and the writer can go so many places with it... well done!...ethome |
